Message I posted this in technical before the site went down for a day or two, and didn't really get the help I was hoping for. The original post is here.

Hey I did this a while ago, but haven't been able to fix it yet. Myself and a friend dropped my tranny, pulled out my ACT 6-puck, and put in a RPS Max Street clutch. This was the first time I ever did a clutch job. Put a new flywheel surface on my Fidenza flywheel (new steel insert from Fidenza). Replaced the pin-ball, clutch fork, pilot bushing, throw-out bearing, and slave cyclinder with the RPS one. Was able to drive about 1000 miles with no boost to break it in, after adjusting my clutch engagement point to make it contact.
My problem is that my clutch engagement point changes all the time, now that I'm trying to hit the boost. Almost want to say that it changes as the car heats up. In the morning, with a cold Z, my clutch engagement point is close to the floor. As the car heats up (this is my theory) sometimes the clutch engagement point rises so far that it slips when I go above 2500RPMs! My first guess was that there was air in the lines, so I bled and bled and bled. Even bought one of those vacuum bleeding tools. Bled from both bleed points. Clutch still slips.

I called RPS and had them send a new slave cyclinder. Orderd a stainless steel clutch line from SGP. My master cyclinder isn't any more that 1.5 years old. I have a set of Nissan OEM clutch vacuum lines with a check valve on order. Do you think that replacing all of those will settle my clutch engagment point down?

BUT... remember when installing my clutch, when I first dropped the tranny there was a "spacing" plate, I want to say behind the flywheel that fell out. I put it back in, but slid it back behind the flywheel after bolting the flywheel on. I don't think that was the right way - maybe it didn't get back into the right position? Could that somehow be causing my changing clutch engagment point? I'll drop the tranny again and fix it if I have to.

ANY help or comments would be greatly appreciated!

Oh, and I can't actually do any of this work for a while, I'm stuck down in Pensacola FL for Navy Officer training for another 6 weeks. Just doing some research now.

Thanks!

Rob
